Meet your coach & Partner, Jenn O’Connor

Integrative health and wellness coach, yogi, nutritionist, sports medicine & surgical physician assistant, massage therapist, cyclist, Olympic Games medical provider, xc skier, visionary, meditator, mindfulness practitioner, growth-oriented human.

You need a vision, a plan, and a team.

I blend my unique, multidisciplinary experience with eastern and western medicine to support, guide, and empower you to make lasting health and wellness behavior changes so that you thrive and live your best life.   For nearly two decades, I have worked with patients, athletes, and the community in various capacities. From the operating room to the Olympics, I have learned that the most successful people have a clear vision, a plan, accountability, a growth mindset, and consistent support from their team. With this structure, you are empowered to stretch beyond your growth edges to live into your optimal health and wellness.

You don’t need to be an Olympian to be a high performer in your life.

For nine years, I had the honor of working with many of our nation’s finest athletes, on and preparing for the Olympic stage.  I traveled all over the world with the US Mountain Bike Team, Triathlon and ParaNordic Ski Team. In addition to annual World Cup competitions, I had the privilege of serving as medial staff at the Sochi Paralympic Games and Tokyo Olympics. I witnessed and supported American athletes on their incredible journey to be their best. These inspiring humans are masters at harnessing every ounce of leverage to enhance their performance.  Which, in addition to their sport specific training, often included yoga, breath work, meditation, visualization, journaling, strategic goal setting, self-care, massage therapy, recovery, and mindset development… all of which alchemized into their unique high performance action plan and ongoing achievement.

I use this holistic approach to support clients in optimizing their health and wellness and would be honored to be part of your team on your journey!

“Both, ANd”

As an integrated woman who wears a lot of hats in the health & wellness space, I embrace the philosophy of “Both, AND…”. This unified approach has allowed me to connect many aspects of health and wellness that often become compartmentalized or separated in medicine and life. Blending eastern and western approaches allows us to move through the world in a more integrated, holistic way. Embodying this philosophy, allows us to gain understanding to optimize our health, feel whole, and ready to take on life’s greatest adventures.

The sustainable Wellness Origin Story

Jenn O’Connor, PA-C, MS, LMT
Integrative Health & Wellness Coach

Health and wellness coaching is like an oxygen bridge for me…a way to breathe more fully into and connect different parts of my life, so that I feel integrated and living in alignment with my core values.

I started Sustainable Wellness 14 years ago as a sports massage practice, which has been one of the most amazing endeavors of my life! At the time, I had just moved back to Burlington, Vermont from Boulder, Colorado, where I completed my massage therapy certification. I had a few other credentials and interests including a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science & Biology. I was a science teacher, a yoga instructor, an avid cyclist, hiker, and skier. I wanted a business model that would allow me to combine all of my passions to support client’s in their adventures and allow room to grow and evolve…thus Sustainable Wellness came to be.

The word yoga means “to yoke or connect the mind and body.”

A few years after I started my business, I wanted to develop my understanding of the human body even more, particularly with regard to structure and function, so I became an Orthopedic Physician Assistant. This profession has afforded me extraordinary learning and professional growth, which progressively informs my trajectory. My roots in holistic health and wellness continue to serve as my foundation and led me to complete the Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching program at UVM. This has been an ideal framework to further bridge and “yoke” my passion for the mind and body.

This journey has evolved into what “Sustainable Wellness” is today…Integrative Health & Wellness Coaching. This practice is informed by my varied practices in eastern and western medical approaches, as well as my life experience. This continual union or yoking has served as an anchor and wellspring for me to further develop my craft in the health and wellness space. I have spent years in medicine helping people get physically well, but I have learned that if you only address one aspect of your life and don’t integrate your full self, you still won’t necessarily FEEL WELL or thrive in your life.

From medicine, to sport, to meditation…I have learned so much about myself, which has had a profound impact on my life. Time and time again, my explorations have led me back to mindfulness, yoga, breath work, intentional listening and getting to know different parts of who I am. This holistic approach allows me to access my innate wisdom to leverage support for my endeavors. The more whole I feel, the more resourced I become, and the more success I experience.

These pursuits have taken me all over the world and I am so grateful for the connections, opportunities. learning and amazing communities along the way. My greatest adventure continues to be the journey, discovery and practice of “sustainable wellness”.

My integrated approach optimizes physical health, mind-body connection, and clear planning, to empower your agency to live your best life on your sustainable wellness journey.

I am based in Burlington, Vermont and I work virtually with clients in various locations with my 1:1 coaching sessions.
